DEMOREST, GA. — Musician Kayla Beggs is returning to Piedmont University's Department of Theater for another year of live musical theater, this time contributing her talents to the upcoming production of The Addams Family Musical.
Following her involvement in last year's production of Godspell, Beggs is back for her second consecutive year, helping bring another beloved musical to life through her work as a multi-instrumentalist.
Presented by the Piedmont University Department of Theater, The Addams Family Musical will run October 29 through November 1, 2026, at the Swanson Mainstage Theater in Demorest, Georgia.
A Musical Family With a Delightfully Dark Twist
Based on the famously eccentric Addams family, the musical puts a comedic spin on the challenges of growing up, falling in love, and introducing someone new to the family.
Wednesday Addams, the family's dark and unconventional daughter, has fallen in love with a young man from a seemingly normal family. When she asks her father, Gomez Addams, to keep the relationship a secret from Morticia, Gomez finds himself caught between his daughter and the woman he loves.
Things become even more complicated when the two families gather for dinner, setting the stage for a night that promises unexpected revelations, family tensions, and plenty of comedy.
With an original story and a score filled with musical numbers, The Addams Family Musical combines the familiar charm of its iconic characters with the energy of live theater.
Four Instruments, One Production
For Beggs, this year's production brings another opportunity to put her musical versatility to work.
She will be playing four instruments throughout the production: electric guitar, nylon-string acoustic guitar, banjo, and ukulele.
The musical features 25 songs, giving the production's musicians plenty of opportunities to contribute to its changing moods, musical textures, and theatrical moments.
Moving between four different instruments requires flexibility and preparation, particularly in a production where the music helps shape the atmosphere and support the storytelling. From electric guitar to the distinctive sounds of banjo and ukulele, Beggs' contributions span a variety of musical styles.
Her return following Godspell also marks another year of involvement in the university's theater program, continuing her experience performing in a live theatrical setting.
Continuing a Musical Journey
Beyond her work in theater, Beggs is involved with L.i.D Music Group, connecting her participation in live productions with a broader musical journey.
Opportunities like this highlight the range of skills musicians can develop outside traditional recording and performance settings. Theater requires musicians to work as part of a larger ensemble, support a story through music, and adapt to the needs of a live production.
For Beggs, returning for a second consecutive year represents another opportunity to grow as a musician while contributing to a production that brings performers, musicians, and audiences together.
